Lips - Pre and Post Treatment Care

LIP TREATMENT PRE-TREATMENT CARE


For one week prior to your appointment, you should exfoliate your lips every couple of days, you can make your own by mixing sugar and honey.


During this week prior to your appointment, you should also moisturise your lips at least three times a day.


You must drink lots of water on the lead up to your appointment.


On the day of your appointment, make sure you eat before your appointment as you won’t be able to eat for a couple of hours following your treatment.


If you suffer from cold sores, you must use zovirax cream or oral medication, start at least 5 days before in order to avoid a breakout of the virus, a breakout will affect the results and retention could be compromised.


Avoid drinking alcohol the day before your treatment.


Avoid taking ibuprofen and any anti-inflammatory tablets for two days before the treatment.


Don’t have caffeinated drinks on the day of your treatment.


LIP TREATMENT AFTERCARE


Avoid spicy foods, and drink through a straw during the first 3 days. Be extremely careful with hot foods and drinks.


Clean lips every hour during the first day, you can do this by washing gently with tap water or by using a damp cotton pad and very gently wiping.


Moisturise your lips as much as you need for the first 3 days and be prepared for your lips to feel dry and need more moisturising for about a month.


The colour will be very intense for about 3 days and once the scabs start coming off the colour will be very light, the true healed colour takes about 5 weeks to show.


If you suffer from cold sores, either use zovirax cream or oral medication up to 7 days after the treatment to avoid a breakout of the virus.


Arnica can be used to reduce bruising.


Anti-histamines can be taken to reduce swelling.


Don’t kiss for 5 days.


Don’t share cups or cutlery for 5 days


Avoid sun exposure for 3 weeks.
