WHAT IS PMU? Permanent makeup, also referred as micropigmentation, microblading, nano brows etc… is a form of tattooing where pharmaceutical grade pigments are implanted into the upper layers of the skin with the aid of needles. There is variety of different techniques to create effects that will suit your desired design of brows, eyeliner or lips. HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? Semi permanent makeup should last up to 2 years depending on sun exposure, lifestyle, genetic, etc. It will gradually fade over time and a color boost treatment is recommended between 12-18 months to keep your brows, eyeliner or lips looking fresh.
IS IT PAINFUL? A lot of people would compare the pain as to the pain of threading. I find that most clients feel very little pain during treatments. DO I NEED A CONSULTATION? If you are 100% sure you want the treatment a pre consultation is not required as the full consultation will be carried out on the treatment day.
WHAT HAPPENS ON TREATMENT DAY? I will carry out a full consultation and go through all the forms. I will pick a few colors for you to choose from and help you make a decision, I then create a template using pencils and once I get the approval from you, I start the procedure of implanting the pigments into the skin. Procedures usually take around and hour and a half or two and a retouch appointment will be made for 4-6 weeks after. CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT IF I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION? I all depends on what the condition is, don’t let it stop you from having a consultation, I will ask for a medical referral if necessary.
CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING? No. Unfortunately there are no studies to support the safety of this procedure on expecting mums and insurance companies won't cover this treatment too. HOW LONG UNTIL THE SKIN IS HEALED? Redness and swelling can be normal and these symptoms usually disappear within 24-48 hours. Total recovery time is 4-6 weeks and you should expect scabbing of the treated area and the color fading up to 40% so that it reaches the color originally chosen.
IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATEMNT? Yes, I will send out a pack containing a patch test to be carried out by you at home, this should be done at least 24 hours before the treatment to ensure you are not allergic to any of the products used during the treatment.
